There are five lessons in this course. With one online lesson scheduled every week and follow up independent study time of  between 2 to 3 hours per week.

The course learning objectives are:

  1. Recognise the use of percentages in the real world.
  2. Change percentages to fractions and fractions to percentages.
  3. Change percentages to decimals and decimals to percentages.
  4. Mentally calculate percentage of an amount.
  5. Review of the course. End of course quiz.

At the end of this course the pupil should be able to:

  1. Describe how percentage are used in the real world.
  2. Convert percentages to fractions and fractions to percentages.
  3. Convert percentages to decimals and decimals to percentages.
  4. Calculate percentage of an amount without using a calculator.
  5. Complete end of course quiz.
This course is designed for pupils ages ten and above, who would like to deepen their understanding of the concept of percentages or just need a refresher.

To enrol on this course the pupils must know these topics:

  • add and subtract two and three digit numbers
  • multiply and divide numbers
  • times tables and corresponding division up to 12
  • understand place value up to 100000.
  • good understanding of fractions and decimals.
Week 1 introduces pupils to how they make use of percentages in there daily life,
Week 2 pupils are taught how to convert percentages to fractions and fractions into percentages.
Week 3 pupils are taught how to convert percentages to decimals and decimals to percentages.
Week 4 pupils are taught how to Mentally calculate percentage of an amount.
Week 5 review of the course. There will be the end of the course assessment and quiz.
