What are CVC words
CVC words are basic, three-letter words. CVC words begin with a consonant, have a single letter short vowel sound, end with a consonant. Furthermore, they are simple to sound out because they don’t include any of the tricky blends. Also, they don’t include diphthongs commonly found in the English language.
Designed to develop all four components of language learning:
- speaking
- listening
- reading
- handwriting skills.
Word Building CVC Book 1 covers approximately 250 CVC words as well as the tricky words from the th and wh family. All the CVC words are presented on pages 4 and 5 of the workbook. This is handy if you want to just get the pupil to read the words and use them in a sentence.
The word formation series of workbooks are ideally suitable for pupils in the Early Years, Foundation and Key Stage 1. Those with special educational needs, may need support or supervision.
