The Mastery-Based Fractions Course, helps pupils develop the confidence to calculate mentally. Learn key facts and acquire the skills to develop strategies to solve problems involving fractions.

Understanding of how we use fractions in our everyday interactions is relevant even in our technological age and essential for developing mathematical and critical thinking.

Fractions are an indispensable part of our lives; we use them without even realising this every day. Whether it is to buy 1/2 a dozen eggs for baking a yummy cake, which requires 3/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of butter and sugar and 1/4 cup of milk and bake it for 1/2 an hour, everything around us involves fractions.

This course will provide learners with a thorough understanding of the relevance of fractions in our daily lives, the different types of fractions, its application and how to solve these problems.
The pupil will work with a range of fraction representations, which includes number lines, objects, area, time, and measures, to develop a concrete understanding of fractions, thus laying a solid foundation for other mathematical concepts. By the end of this course, the pupil should develop confidence in their ability to work with fractions and apply this knowledge in maths related topics or other subjects.

This course is ideal for students who want to deepen their understanding of the concept of fractions.
This course is especially suitable for pupils studying towards achieving grades 3, 4 and 5 in Maths GCSE.
